Classroom Expectations In 6th grade we focus on three main classroom rules:
Make good choices.
Solve problems.
Show respect.
These rules guide a lot of what we do and how we do it. Those rules focus us on thinking skills, problem solving, team work, personal responsibility, and making sure we do our best.
Content Areas
Religion (or "living out our faith")
We look at the Patriarchs of our faith (Jacob, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, etc.) and how they responded with fear and confidence to live as God asked them.
Language Arts & Literature
We look at different ways authors tell stories, explain issues, and persuade others. We learn from those examples to write our own stories, explain our new learnings, and be confident and convincing.
History (Taught by: Mr. Robert Hardin)
6th Grade History will cover the Americas with emphasis on geography. We will probably start with Canadian History and then move to Mexico, Central America, and South America. We will read myths and folklore from these countries as well as look at their history. Current events will be central to the class.
